Group Health Centre I.D.A. Pharmacy on McNabb Street, Sault Ste. Marie

Home  /  About us

You’ll know
who filled it.

Independent since 1954. Five pharmacists, two pharmacies, and none of them a call centre.

Two pharmacies, seventy-plus years.

The original owners are still in the background. The next generation now looks after patients whose parents and grandparents were ours.

  1. 1954

    Merrett’s opens in Steelton

On Wellington Street West, where it still is. White painted brick, and the I.D.A. mark on the wall.

  2. 1963

    Group Health Centre follows

On McNabb Street. You do not have to be a Group Health Centre patient to use it — everyone is welcome.

  3. Today

    Still independent, still local

Two pharmacies, five pharmacists, and the largest producer of blister packs in Sault Ste. Marie.

The five of us.

Between two stores. If you have a question about your medication, one of these people will answer it — usually the same day, usually by name.

What independent actually gets you.

  1. Decisions made here

Nobody in another province decides what we stock or how long we spend with you.

  2. The same faces

You are not explaining your history again to whoever is on shift.

  3. We answer the phone

Both numbers ring at a pharmacy in Sault Ste. Marie, not a queue.
